Family Time

December 27, 2023

Sundays are for family time in our house. It is a tradition that Kyle and I are trying our best to continue. It’s been that way my entire life, as long as I can remember. When I was growing up, it was known that if you came home from church with us on a Sunday afternoon, you were going to Sunday Dinner with us. Every Sunday until I was probably 18-20 years old, my Grandmother would make a roast and rice & gravy and all the sides, and my parents and siblings and most of my Aunts & Uncles and all of my 13 cousins would be there.

To be honest, some of my absolute favorite memories happened on those days. ❤️

We may not have “Sunday Dinner” every week anymore, but you can bet your bottom dollar that when we do have it; we are all there!

“Family Time” may look different to each of our families now: some spend it at the baseball fields, some meet at a restaurant after church, some eat together around the table at someone’s house or on their back patio one night during the week instead of a Sunday, but because we were all taught the value of family time so early in life, we truly understand it’s value and we make it a priority.

In the chaos of daily life I know Family Time can get overlooked, or put to the side, or even over complicated. I want to encourage you to take away that “perfect picture” of Family Time. Family Time can be a quick game of JENGA in the living room, or a game of PIG or HORSE in the driveway with your kids as your unloading groceries, it can be sitting together watching a football game or dance competition, it can even be all sitting outside or drawing with chalk in the driveway as you husband changes the oil in your car. I’m not saying you need to all be sitting around the table sharing a meal together-although I absolutely think that is important, that’s just another blog article for another day. lol

Make family time a priority.

If it’s not a priority with this generation, it will become optional with the next generation, and then it will likely not exist with the next generation. Prioritize it. Value It. Treasure It.
